Ode to Taylor Hanson

Okay, since you're at my site, you obviously already know I'm a Hanson fan. Perhaps not a regular one, because I'm not crushing on/obsessed with/convinced I will one day marry one of them. And, I have said it before, if I had to choose one of them it wouldn't be Taylor. However, I find Taylor Hanson to be a simply captivating person to watch. I find him extremely interesting, thus I wrote this poem.

I watch you on the stage and I wonder

what goes on in there

you'll be exchanging glances

you'll be flipping your hair

And when you look out on those faces

I'm sure they blur together

So are you happy that they'll just be

smears of color to you forever?

I just wonder if it hurts to be

only grip, pump, release

sign your name

repeat

And if I could ask you just one question

I guess I'd ask if you're okay

Because I see you smile and wave

But then I see you turn away

And the whole world's been watching you

while you sparkle and shine

But maybe your light

has been burning out inside

And don't you start to wish

that you could just be someone else

when you want to be alone

But they won't leave you to yourself?

You are my inspiration

you're the light I wake up to

everything I want to be

is held inside of you

And I'm always so amazed to see

how in love with this you look

But I don't think they're right to think

they read you like a book

I know there's something more to you

than just that gorgeous voice and face

And it makes me want to be near you

no matter what it takes

But I'm not about to join that crowd

I'll just watch from afar

Cause it's alright if you never know

How special to me you are

So here's a shout out from the girl

sitting still in the back row

whom, to you, is simply someone

You'll never have to know
