When we walked back into the suite, a few hours later, laughing hysterically over something that I don't even remember
but probably was not very funny at all, we were greeted by a very superior look from Taylor.
"Hey guys, what's up?" he asked, cooly.
"Hi, Taylor." Zac said, suspiciously, waiting for something to break, "How's it going?"
"Oh good, good..." he settled himself, casually on the arm of the couch, "You know, hanging out...I went outside." he shrugged,
"I was out there two minutes, guys." he took a huge gulp from his coffee cup before continuing, "And I was asked at least
a thousand and a half questions about you two."
Zac and I had to look away from each other to keep in our hysterics.
"Girls were telling me..." he was way too calm, it would have been scary if it weren't so damn funny, "They saw you guys
together all over the place today. Just holding hands and laughing and hugging like a giddy teenage couple. One girl told
me she asked if you are in fact a couple and you just yelled 'who cares!?' and walked away laughing." another gulp
of coffee. "Meg. Do you remember what we talked about before you left?"
Gee no, Tay, I'm far too blonde to remember that.
I just nodded, afraid I'd laugh in his face if I opened my mouth.
"Yeah? So you remember what I said about it being REALLY DANGEROUS for you to be such an idiot?! REMEMBER?!"
"Shhhh!" I laughed, pressing my finger to my lips, "We don't care!"
He sighed and rolled his eyes away from us.
I knew he wanted to laugh and I knew exactly how to get it out of him.
I leapt forward, wrapping my arms around his neck and leaning all my weight against him.
He was caught off guard and fell over, off the couch arm and onto the floor, taking me with him.
I was planting big sloppy kisses all over his face when Zac joined us and it turned into a giant mess of tickling, hugging,
and laughter.
"Alright, alright." Taylor sighed, once we had retired to just laying on the floor, "I get your stupid little point. But
when you're being beat up by a swarm of girls..." he poked me in the side, "I want you to remember one thing." he sat
up so he was staring, intimidatingly down at me and put emphasis on every word, "I. Told. You. So."
"Oh God, why don't you do a dance for us too?" Zac, who was laying on my other side, groaned.
"I might just go make one up." Taylor said, hopping to his feet and disappearing into his and Isaac's room.
"What now?" Zac asked.
"I do not know." I shrugged.
So we stayed there, on the floor, and laughed at each other until we both fell asleep.
~~~~~~~~~
When I woke up again, it was because I was surrounded by five wildly laughing guys.
I opened my eyes and was greeted by Lennon's foot, being as he was using me as a foot rest.
"Sleeping beauty awakes!" he announced.
"Heyyyyy!" Isaac, who was sitting directly above me on the couch, laughed, jabbing his foot into my back.
"Eh.." I groaned, "Keep all your disgusting guy feet off me!"
"Oh, she's irritable when she wakes." Taylor commented.
"What the hell time is it?" I asked around a yawn.
"It's ten pm, lollipop." Kody answered.
I moaned.
"Why can't I ever fall asleep at a normal time and then wake up at one?"
I looked around at them. Isaac behind me, Kody next to him, and Taylor on his other side.
Then, on the floor next to me, were Lennon and Matt.
No Zac. Where was Zac?
I got up slowly and roamed back into my room.
Zac was laying, asleep, in his bed.
I plopped down on my own. Tired. Tired and achy and really iffy.
And it had only been three hours since I had been so happy and energetic.
"They chase you off too?" Zac muttered into his pillow.
I jumped a little. I thought he was asleep.
"Huh?" I asked.
"They were laughing really loud and I told them to shut up, so they told me to go sleep in my bed. So, I was gonna take
you with me, but Lennon wouldn't let me, cause he was using you as a foot stool."
"Oh." I closed my eyes, "Do you need anything? Laundry, dry cleaning, anything you need for the show tomorrow?"
"No." he groaned back, "I think I'm set."
"Any clue about your brothers?"
"I dunno, you'd have to ask them."
I was too tired to get up and walk out there, so I pulled my cellphone out of my pocket, and pushed 'send' on Isaac's number,
newly programed into my address book.
"Hello?" Ike answered.
"Ike.." I muttered.
"Meg? Meg, why are you calling from the next room?"
"Do either of you two need anything for tomorrow?" I asked in my tired monotone.
"Ummm.." Ike laughed, "I don't. Hang on...Tay wants his black sweater."
"Okay." I hung up and was about to get up and find Taylor's stupid sweater, when Zac threw a spare pillow at me.
"Just do it tomorrow, stupid." he muttered, "You're too tired now."
"But this is my job!" I threw his pillow back at him.
"Do it to-morrow!" Zac made to throw the pillow back but forgot to let go and ended up falling off his bed.
I found the energy to burst into laughter.
"Just shut your prissy little mouth." he said, reaching up to yank me onto the floor too.
"So, you guys still don't care, do ya?" we looked up to see Taylor standing in the door.
"Hardly." I snorted, dropping my head into Zac's lap.
Taylor shook his head and threw his black sweater at me.
"Take care of that for me?"
"We decided that she's gonna do that tomorrow." Zac answered for me.
"Whatever." Tay shrugged and walked away.
Zac looked down at me.
"Are we ridiculous?"
"Yeah."
Meet and greet time at the Hanson concert...my favorite.
As Meg Waters, backup band, I never had to be there. I was off with the band doing pre-concert band stuff, or just goofing
off in general.
Meg Waters, assistant, has to stand by and watch the whole gruesome spectical. All the screaming, the giggling, the girliness.
A lot of the girls can be pretty cool, but not today.
And to top it all off, they were shooting me glances.
Our little display from the day before had spread around. And, in all honesty, I was beginning to care just a little.
Not to mention, Tay was overly pissy with me for forgetting his shirt. He kept looking down at the shirt he'd been forced
to wear instead, and shooting me glances. I think he was just teasing me, but I wasn't into it right now.
I mirrored his stupid look and took a gulp of my Diet Dr. Pepper.
I was sick or something, I don't really know what was going on with me.
And then, back stage mid-concert, it came to me. Well actually, it came out of me.
Blood. Lots of it.
I was standing backstage, watching the guys perform the much overplayed "Penny and Me", when dizziness hit me the way a
wave hits you if you're standing waist deep in the ocean.
It washed over me and all around me and, the next thing I was concious of was being on my hands and knees with Kody kneeling
next to me, pulling my hair out of my face while I spewed blood against the hard wood floor.
My body was wretching, as I coughed up more and more dark red blood.
"Alright, Little wing, what's going on here?" Kody asked, uncertainly, rubbing my back, "It's okay." he soothed, "Alright..."
I stayed on my knees, on the floor, for a while until I was sure there was no more blood coming up.
I made to stand up, but Kody told me not to and instead, lifted me gently off the floor, cradling me against his chest.
I shut my eyes tightly and let him take me out of the building.
He had called for an ambulance as soon as I started to cough up blood, before he had even come over to me, so he was waiting
outside for us.
I was strapped onto a stretcher and loaded into the ambulance. It hadn't even begun to move yet before I lost conciousness.
